No more 3 stride work

Well, I finally gave that up. WOO HOO it was way past time. I went to a tourney months ago and had fun. She didn't give me a 3.9 until the last race of the day on a Sunday. Well maybe it was I didn't pass really tight until the last race of the day. Whatever................

We will be going to a tournament this weekend and I don't care about the 3 strides but I would like many 3.9's. See is a great dog no matter what she does. She gives it her all plus a little bit more.

3 stride work

During flyball class I used Juice as a distraction for another dog. I didn't have a team box so we played flybox instead. She took 3 strides each time. Whenever I practice with her I will keep using the slat with or without the ball.

3 stride regulator

Juice practiced flyball a couple of times yesterday. Once behind 2 jumps when Linda ran her and then again behind 4 jumps with Angie. Each time she had 3 strides because I had a stride regulator on the floor to help her. Out at WOOF the floors are black and I used a black yardstick. It worked! At least I am keeping myself happy. :)))

Hmmmmm

I have really been thinking about flyball a lot lately and it doesn't have the same feel as it used too. I was quite frustrated last season with the 2 stride issue at the end. I was also frustrated on a regular basis with the way the warm ups seemed to go. We are so small as a club to have a consistant pass caller. I need that. Otherwise it isn't fun because I can't get as tight as I want and I don't see 3.9's. The lack of communication and so many people thinking about themselves and not others seemed to get to me. I don't know but it isn't feeling like fun right now and agility is just me and my dog. We will see................it still isn't flyball season yet but I can see spending money on agility might be more worth my while.

Stride Regulator

The stride regulator was too small and she did not respect it. I have a slat I used at 3/4 the normal length and she took 3 with it. I will slowly make it less and less. Next time I will use 1/2 a slat and she what she puts down.

Friday Night Practice

I am looking forward to practice tonight. I have shortened the stride regulator and will see if Juice still respects it. I will continue working with a stride regulator and will see what happens at her first flyball tournament. I have said that I will accept whatever I get BUT whenever I think about going and her taking 2 strides I know I am not going to be happy. I am not excited about flyball right now but maybe as the spring comes I will want to go. Right now flyball is taking a 2nd place to learning agility. I can stay home and practice agility while my friends tear up the flyball mats.

Maybe later, we will see.

Stride Regulator

I ran Juice up against Isis at practice last weekend using her "stride regulator". With it in she put in her 3 strides every single time. I wish I could get that regularly. Her box was good since I had a cone in and a wide out board. I will work to fade it over the next couple of months. I won't be going to a tournament for some time.

Linda, Denise, and I ran Isis, Mija, and Juice for orientation at Woof last weekend. I didn't like Juice's box. Then I remembered she hasn't been doing flyball from a distance in quite awhile and I have not been doing any box work at home. So before she runs a tourney I will have to run her at full speed from 35 feet with props consistantly to get the good box back.

Stay tuned..............

Should be going to practice tonight

It is 5:45 pm on Friday night and I am still at school. I should go to class but I am going to stay home instead. Flyball isn't as much fun anymore because I can't accept two strides and I am tired of trying to get them. I might not play as much this season because I don't want to spend my time frustrated. It isn't fun this way.

Let's see how I feel next week.
